An exhibition on the theme of acoustics with materials from the Materia collection is running from 22 March to 4 April. Come experience these materials and get an overview of the opportunities in the market of today and tomorrow.
Acoustics improving materials
The Materia exhibition of acoustic materials is composed of material samples that contribute to better acoustics. In the first place by muting or filter. One can see for example acoustic plaster of cotton flakes, three-dimensional textile, carpet grass, coconut foam, three-dimensional folding walls or innovative fabrics.
Furthermore, one can see the wide applications of felt, from technical to traditionally crafted wall coverings. Especially materials that get acoustic properties when used in unexpected ways, such as the wall of brushes, inspire us to out-of-the-box uses of the materials around us.
The sound of materials
The second part of the exhibition focuses on the sounds that are caused by materials or products. Polyurethane flooring sounds different than natural stone flooring; the closing of solid wood door is noisier than that of a glass swing door. These sounds contribute to experiencing a room or a building.
You are cordially invited to ‘listen’ to the exhibited materials at the Materia Inspiration Centre.
