Choosing the right material to let packaging, stores and interiors reflect the brand is a serious issue. Materia presents the Innovative Design Material Gallery, that showcases up to 100 innovative materials.
Materials with surprising sensorial properties and new technical properties can add inspiration value and attraction value to retail interiors, products, et cetera.
One can think of light transmitting concrete, panels made out of recycled plastic bottles or cell phones, and extremely hard wearing leather.
Other materials that will be displayed are salmon leather, wallpaper of real rose petals, and flexible nonwoven sheets with Mother of Pearl. The gallery’s theme is Environmental Sustainability.
Host of the Innovative Design Material Gallery during the three days is Els Zijlstra, Creative Director of Materia and the Materia Inspiration Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
She will also give a lecture at the Retail Design & Marketing Seminar. Mrs. Zijlstra will for instance tell about material developments and uses for Prada, G-Star, Coca Cola and Nike.
The Innovative Design Material Gallery is part of the SGS (Senses Generate Sales) feature. This is the centre piece of Retail Asia Expo 2012 to demonstrate how retailers can use sight, sound, smell, taste and touch to generate more business.
Retail Asia Expo, is one of the largest Asian events on retail. The edition 2012 will be held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre from 12 to 14 June. More information can be found here. To get a badge and enjoy express entry you can pre-register.
