Charcoal

This range of sheet materials is made from high impact polystyrene. It is hard, dense, very rigid and can also be fixed using adhesives.
Smile plastics used to supply a mocha and white mottled sheet, made from used coffee machine vending cups, but they got too much contamination mixed in with the waste. Therefore they have to have the material melt processed to remove this contamination before making sheets and this has limited the colours that can be offered
This new Charcoal plastic is made out of the same old coffee cups and can be polished to look like granite. The polishing cannot be done by smile plastics themselves as they have no facilities for polishing at the moment.
The sheets are available in 2 x 1 m size and 12 mm thick. The 5mm and 3mm can be vacuum formed. Sheets of  3 x 1.5m are also available, but transport cost will be higher.
Please note that there is colour variation from batch to batch and also from screen image to sample, and can vary according to where they were cut from the sheet.
