Doric

Doric is an innovative glass block. This glass design has become three-dimensional showing in relief the motif of the columns of the Greek temples. Size 30x30x8/10 cm (weight 7.5kg).

The three-dimensional motif is applied to the external surface of a glass block so that is not longer smooth but sinuous and in relief. This has been achieved with parallel grooves that protrude externally by 20mm on one side and internally on the other side of the block.

Rafael Moneo, a leading figure of contemporary architecture felt compelled to combine the modern and innovative nature of glass blocks with such an influential historical icon and used it for the Library of the University of Deusto. Doric is a large glass block (30x30cm) originating from Pegasus as shown by the 10mm wings along the entire block. Thanks to these wings, all the supporting elements inside the joints cannot be seen.
