This book includes all of the designs presented by the Catedra Ceramica (the ceramics department of the international university of Catalonia or UIC) and, in addition, an interesting technical vision of ceramics in search of new formats and new applications in the field of architecture.

The designs included in this resource of ideas from the Catedra Ceramica are organised into four groups entitled cells, folds, hybrids and pivots. In the book are illustrated 24 different projects like for example a house in Cascais by Eduardo Souto de Moura, the Spanish Pavilion in the Expo 2005 in Japan by FOA, the Cafe Una in Vienna by Lacaton and Vassal, an Apartments Building in Ljubljana by Sadar Vuga Arhitekti or the New Art Gallery and Public Square in Walsall in England by Caruso St. John Architects. Dropped in among the projects are chapters detailing technical processes and applications associated with ceramic tiling.
