We are happy to announce that the Materia knowledgebase is almost finalized and is getting launched soon! Our corporate site www.materia.nl and the materials search engine www.materialexplorer.com will be incorporated in the knowledgebase www.materia.nl.
With this new knowledgebase, Materia is able to give you access to even more extensive material-related information. Meaning:
• Articles and background information on subjects such as trends,
innovations, processes, technologies, ecological developments and
smart materials.
• A diary with dates and locations of all relevant meetings.
• Information about lectures, workshops and trade fairs for the creative
professional.
• The latest books, magazines and articles on materials, technologies,
architecture and design.
• Free access to the materials on the search engine Material Explorer.
The purpose of all this is to create a worldwide platform in the field of material information!

In the spotlight!
No more changing light bulbs!
Lumaglass™ system uses Electroluminescent (EL) light in a form of a film which is fixed onto the inside flange of the profiled glass panels. This EL Lamp works by using an alternating current that excites phosphor crystals, which in turn emit light. Lumaglass™ is an environmental friendly light that requires low energy consumption and little to no maintenance. This light will never burn out completely. An
LumaglassTM has been launched by Westcrowns Contracting Services group in order to create stunning highlighting effects for glass façades or glass partitions. It enables to light up glass wall applications from the inside, giving you more freedom to design!

100% Design Rotterdam, Holland: This trade fair in the spectacular Van Nelle factory just keeps getting bigger. As in previous years, visitors were impressed with the unusual use of materials in the designs. Furthermore, many building material manufacturers or agencies had their special collections on display. Steward, a wood products company, surprised visitors with its stone veneer. Plexwood showed its new bent wood, Indivipro its new Paterno sun blinds, Lama its new fabrics, and Aleksandra Gaca its new 3D textiles.
