A walk in the clouds! Architect Makoto Tanijiri of Suppose Design Office designed an light exhibition environment for Designtide Tokyo 2009 based on fluffy clouds. The installation, made out of cotton and polyester material, created a heaven-like space to wander around freely, enjoying works of exhibiting designers.
Living Daylights Foundation promotes a proper use of daylight in the building environment. Daylight should be stimulated as an essential and stimulating element of architecture, urbanism and landscaping. The Daylight Award 2010 will be chosen from eighty inspiring projects in the category construction and housing and will be presented at Material Xperience , January 28th 2010.
Neptune's Vase? These algae Vases are made by the Dutch Designer Mandy den Elzen. They are made from Laminaria (algae) leaves of 10-20cm wide and 30cm long. The algae is boiled and processed when still moist. As soon as the material is moulded in the desired shape, it is lacquered with epoxy. The dried algae is slightly translucent when illuminated.
