World’s First 3D Printed Office To Be Constructed In Weeks

We’ve been following 3D printing trends for a number of years and are excited to see this latest leap in scale – an entire office building printed by a printer in Dubai. Construction is expected to take several weeks, with the building being ready to open October 2015.

Anything but conventional, this office is the result of collaboration between the United Arab Emirates and WinSun Global – a Chinese 3D printing Tech company – as well as engineering firms Gensler, Thornton Tomasetti and Syska Hennessy.

The 3-d printed structure itself is a material combination of reinforced concrete, glass-fibre reinforced gypsum and fibre-reinforced plastic. The building’s parts will be printed in thin layers by a 20 foot tall industrial printer and then assembled on site.

Anticipated to be one the most intricate and advanced 3-d printed building to date, its debut in October is highly anticipated.
