CADEX: New Floors

Materia is pleased to be returning to Shanghai and joining cadex, the innovative hub for architecture and design, with our dynamic flooring exhibition ‘New Floors’

Flooring performance requirements and expectations are constantly growing. Not only must floors be scratch resistant, but also anti-bacterial, dust (particular matter) free, easy to maintain, acoustic, allergy-free, etc. There is now also an environmentally conscious demand for floors made of recycled and/or biobased materials. And in many cases, regardless of how high the performance requirement, the desired finish is a natural one. As a result, high performance floors imitating the natural look and feel of wood, for example, are becoming increasingly popular, largely due to the improving quality of the art.

Whether for offices, schools, retail or healing environments such as hospitals, each sector has its own specific combination of performance requirements for both hard and soft floors,  leading to a tremendous variety in available flooring materials. As a result, there is plenty to explore in this debut edition of ‘New Floors.’
