Light is indeed lovely and its qualities will be explored in this illuminating exhibition put in collaboration between Broeinest and Materia.

A material reacts to light in three ways: though reflection, transmission and absorption. The play and interaction of light against materials is fascinating: it determines the visibility, colour, structure and shine of a material, thus largely determining the appearance of a product or design.

Day (light) also makes us happy, healthy and we cannot get enough of it!

It therefore makes sense then that translucent materials – which so effectively allow the transmission of daylight – are so popular. As such, translucent varieties of material ranges from wood to concrete to stone are currently being developed. Many of these latest translucent wonders will be on show at Material’s ‘Lovely Light’ Exhibition, on this summer at Strijp-S, Eindhoven at Broeinest.
