Like architecture? Visit the Biennale Architettura 2018!
If you are interested in architecture, you should visit the Biennale Architettura 2018 in Venice! Opened today, this biennual event presents works of architecture, built or unbuilt, that incorporate the theme Freespace.
In this 16th edition of the event, curated by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, you can see examples of architecture from many countries, using common and less common materials alike.
The Vietnamese architectural practice Vo Trong Nghia Architects (VTN) created structures made of bamboo.
The Vatican pavilion consists of 10 chapels, approaching the theme of the chapel as a place for orientation, encounter, mediation and salutation. The chapels consist of materials varying from stone to plywood.
In the Greek pavilion, you can find 56 3D printed models of educational spaces from around the world and from different architectural periods, built or unbuilt.
In Venice, pre-cast concrete elements of the controversially demolished Robin Hood Gardens will be reconstructed on a scaffold, designed by ARUP – who engineered the original building – with muf architecture/art – who first proposed the Museum’s acquisition of the fragment – that will allow visitors to walk along a ‘street in the sky’.
The Biennale Architettura is part of La Biennale di Venezia, which focuses on art, architecture, cinema, dance, music, and theatre. The Biennale takes place from 26 May until 25 November 2018. For more information and tickets, click here.
