De Extase Fase: a pavilion made from 100 per cent recycled materials

Waste doesn’t exist. That is the statement that architectural and design studio Flex wants to make with their pavilion De Extase Fase (The Ecstasy Phase) made from recycled polyethylene (PE) tubes.

The pavilion consists of wood and recycled PE tubes. The essence of the project is to let people experience boundaries, which can be different for everybody. Time constitutes boundaries during life, which form the transitions to new phases. The form of the pavilion is based on this aspect, as it is shaped like an hourglass.

In the middle, the pavilion is separated by a curtain of water. This natural border symbolises the double character of events in life.
