Material Xperience On Tour – METS AMSTERDAM

Materia, the leading global network in the field of innovative materials, will be present this year for the second time at METS (Marine Equipment Trade Show) with the travelling exhibition, Material Xperience On Tour. As part of the Innovation Lab, Materia’s partners and experts from around the world will showcase innovative materials related to the maritime industry. The goal is to inspire marine architects, designers and shipbuilders with innovative materials that can be used in boat and yacht building.

The Materia exhibition will showcase diverse lightweight and fire retardant materials, along with luxury interior finishes, honeycomb panels, foam materials and bio-composites. In addition, practical finishing materials including the latest veneers and surface materials will be on show.

Materia will be exhibiting around 125 innovative materials at METS. Each material was carefully selected by experts from Materia’s network in the maritime sector. “My wish is that in say five years, we can build a boat where the interior and exterior are made from materials that naval architects and builders have discovered at Materior Xperience on Tour at METS,” says Irene Dros, manager of the maritime area within Amsterdam RAI. “With Material Xperience On Tour, the Construction Stage and the Innovation Lab, METS is a platform where important trends and developments for boats and yachts are shared.”

“Our goal, as a worldwide networking organization, is to connect architects and shipbuilders with materials that add value to their projects,” adds Jeroen van Oostveen, the director of Materia. “At the same time, we build bridges between our customers and other markets – both geographically and within the construction sectors in which they work. The presentation at METS is a good example of the kind of collaboration that can provide our customers new opportunities. It is a true win-win situation for all involved.”
